Scottish Widows has been hailed good sports after the company sponsored new kit for the Henry Bloom Noble Primary School.
The kit - tops, shorts and socks - was presented to the school’s acting deputy head teacher Alison Honeyman by Scottish Widows managing director Juan Clarke who said: ‘We have a long standing commitment to encourage personal achievement among the young. For example, for a number of years we have sponsored the Peel Golf Club junior tournament and, for the past seven years, the Summer Reading Challenge in association with, rather appropriately, the Henry Bloom Noble Library. Then there is our Book Buddies scheme where colleagues volunteer to develop young people’s reading skills in one-to-one sessions in eight primary schools.
‘So it was against this background that we were pleased to sponsor the new kit for what will soon be a new school. Sport’s all about teamwork and that’s very much at the heart of Scottish Widows. Now, in whatever sport they play the pupils will look the part, too and I am sure they will be great ambassadors both on and off the field for the Henry Bloom Noble Primary School.’
Mrs Honeyman said: ‘We are very grateful to Scottish Widows for sponsoring the new sports kit. Wearing it will not only help to promote teamwork but it’s also a great way for our students to be representing the Henry Bloom Noble School.’
