Shimmin becomes Policy and Reform minister

by isleofman.com 16th February 2015

John Shimmin has rejoined the Council of Ministers after the resignation of Chris Robertshaw earlier today.

Mr Shimmin, who stepped down as Economic Development Minister last June over the Sefton bailout, takes over as Policy and Reform Minister.
His appointment was announced after a meeting of CoMin this morning by Treasury Minister Eddie Teare and has the full support of Chief Minister Allan Bell, currently absent on sick leave.
The move is designed to end uncertainty over stewardship of the role leading reform in government, ahead of tomorrow's budget.
The appointment of Mr Shimmin, who was elected an MHK in 1996 and has served as a minister for 12 years in a number of departments, takes immediate effect.
John Shimmin had recently been seconded from DED to the Cabinet Office, to join Mr Robertshaw's team.
His appointment therefore does not trigger a major reshuffle elsewhere.
Earlier, he told John Moss he was surprised by Mr Robertshaw’s decision and his invitation to rejoin the ministerial fold:
