A community group set up to try to save the main Post Office branch in Ramsey says it is confident it has a sustainable proposal for the board.
The Ramsey Postal Co-operative has until March 31 to submit its proposal to the Post Office board for consideration.
Organiser Nigel Malpass said the successful bidder would work with the Post Office to enable the transition to take place by mid-August. There was a public outcry when the Post Office announced it would be closing its main branches in Douglas and Ramsey and instead opening sub-post offices in nearby Spar shops. Around 300 people turned up to a protest march over the Ramsey
closure.
Mr Malpass said: 'The question I am frequently asked is "Will we be successful"? My answer is only the PO board can decide that but I can say the RPC group are confident of submitting a sustainable and viable proposal that will have the support of the residents in the north.'
