Pension concerns will be heard but change vital - minister

by isleofman.com 13th February 2015
A government minister has promised the Island's senior medics they'll be fully consulted over any changes to their pensions.

The reassurance comes after the British Medical Association warned an exodus of Noble's hospital consultants, over downgrades to their pensions, could have a serious detrimental effect on health care.

Eleven consultants have so far opted to retire since proposals to overhaul public sector pensions were announced last year.

Reforms - still to be decided - will affect thousands of government staff, just two years after a scheme designed to make pensions viable for the future was brought in.

The BMA says the Manx government has broken promises made then.
