A motorcycle racer from Kent died from multiple injuries while practising for the Manx Grand Prix, an inquest has heard.
Fifty-one-year-old Tim Moorhead from Whitstable died just before the Black Hut, on the Mountain section of the TT course on August 22.
It was the third time he had entered the MGP.
Mr Moorhead was an associate lecturer at Kent Law School and had just had his first book published.
Coroner of Inquests Jayne Hughes heard Mr Moorhead was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 1986, but had never had a hypoglycaemic episode since then.
He had taken a blood test before taking part in the practices so Mrs Hughes was able to rule out his diabetes being the cause of his crash.
The skid marks on the road suggested he had lost control of the back wheel, but there was no apparent reason why it might have slipped out from underneath him.
The weather was fine, the sun would not have been in his eyes, and the road was dry.
In the end, Mrs Hughes gave a verdict of misadventure.
