Legislative Council election date confirmed

It’s been confirmed the Legislative Council election will be held on March 16.


A special sitting of the House of Keys will take place to elect four people to the Manx parliament’s upper chamber.


MLCs Alan Crowe, Alex Downie, Dudley Butt and Phil Braidwood are due to retire by rotation – although it’s not yet known how many will seek re-election.


South Douglas MHK David Cretney and Island advocate Paul Beckett have already they confirmed their intentions to stand.


Each candidate must have the support of at least 13 MHKs to be elected.
