Committee chair offers help with landlord laws

by isleofman.com 11th February 2015
The chairman of a committee which criticised new laws governing landlords says he feels vindicated after the legislation was sent back to be redrafted.

Chris Thomas MHK oversaw a review of the Landlord and Tenant (Private Housing) Bill, which will now be reconsidered by the Department of Social Care – and be rewritten by the Attorney General’s chambers.

After the House of Keys voted on the committee’s findings yesterday, Mr Thomas says it was obviously badly-drafted and limited in scope.

He says he’s now happy to work with the department on improving the laws:Clip 1
