Treasury Minister: Pay a living wage

by isleofman.com 10th February 2015
Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says some employers aren’t paying people enough – and it’s costing the taxpayer in benefits.

This morning in the House of Keys, he faced questions by South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft about how the government’s protecting our society’s most vulnerable people.

During the discussion, he was asked about the living wage, the minimum required to meet basic living standards.

Mr Teare revealed there are no plans to force companies to pay the rate, although he admitted he’d like to see more people paid it:Clip 1
