Landlord laws considered by Keys

by isleofman.com 10th February 2015

The Landlord and Tenant (Private Housing) Bill has a big day in the House of Keys today.

MHKs will be asked to approve seven recommendations from a report on the bill.

They include minimum requirements for potential tenants, expected standards of behaviour from those already letting, and sending the bill back to the Attorney General's Chambers for a complete rewrite.

There are 20 questions for oral answer, on topics such as police cuts, public sector staffing levels, and measures introduced to protect the vulnerable.

There's also a familiar looking bill from Onchan MHK Peter Karran.

He is again seeking leave to introduce one which would pave the way for the Legislative Council to be popularly elected, amend their pay and bar them from being ministers or departmental members.
