Douglas RNLI lifeboat called out to fishing boat with fouled propeller

by isleofman.com 9th February 2015
Douglas RNLI lifeboat launched just after 5.30pm on Saturday (7th February) to go to the aid of a fishing boat with a fouled propeller.

The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Sir William Hillary was launched under the command of volunteer coxswain Neal Corran to go to the aid of the vessel with two people on board which had been fishing approximately one mile off Port Soderick, south of Douglas, when the propeller fouled on debris in the sea.

Making good time in the calm conditions Douglas lifeboat soon reached the disabled fishing boat and taking it under tow back to Douglas the vessel was berthed on the King Edward Pier, both members of the fishing boat’s crew being none the worse for their ordeal.

The lifeboat returned to station where it was re-housed, washed down, re-fuelled and was ready again for service at 6.35pm
