by isleofman.com 6th February 2015
Despite a brave ride from Manx cyclist Mark Cavendish on stage 3 of the Dubai Tour - he has lost the overall lead in the race.
After two days on the flat there was a more challenging hilly route today.
The winner of the uphill finish at Hatta Dam was German John Degenkolb who takes over at the top of the General Classification.
The Manx Missile was 10 seconds down in 17th place and he is second in the overall standings just four seconds down on Degenkolb.
Cavendish maintains his position as leader in the Points Race.
Onchan resident Ben Swift lost contact with the leading group today and finished 8 minutes and 8 seconds down in 77th place.
He is 71st in the General Classification.
