Ramsey Men's Dart League Report

by isleofman.com 6th February 2015

Week 14 and we head into the closing stages of this season with battles for placing going on all the way down the league.

Mitre 2 - 7 Traff

Great win for Jimmy's boys as they demolish Carl's crew. Looking at the result sheet it looks like a rather poor standard on the night so I'm sure Stu and the rest of the Mitre team will be kicking themselves. They only won one singles game and that was down to Glenn Charnock. Glenn was also involved in their other win as he partnered Roy Dunlop. For the Traff there were wins for Jay Radcliffe, Stevie Radcliffe, Stu Christain, John Piekalns and Alan Kinrade gaining the match win.

Plough B 1 - 8 Plough A

The A team are just a week or two away from claiming the title and there is no let up in their dominance this year as they cruise past their B team. The win reads even better with the fact that their talisman Geoff Howland was lay at home ill. The B boys only saving grace was their own talisman Jamie Kelly who helped by 6 tons and an 18 dl winning his singles. Gazza Uren and Paul Palmer show no signs of stepping off the gas either as they hit 8 tons apiece including a 180 for Paul. Their other wins came from James Arneil, Andrew Hudgeon  Steven Waters.

Bar Logo A 9 - 0 RAOB

This was a good night for the Logo side - it's easy to slip up against a side you're expected to beat as Paul 'Aggie' Arthur showed against Darren Hadley much to the delight of the crowd and other teams as he struggled in leg one but came back with a fine 15 darter in the second leg and 8 tons on the night. Barry Sharpe hit a 19 darter but it was wins all the way as Mike Jelski, Anthony Collis, Andy Evans and Ian M Fields proved too strong for the basement team. Their day will come I can assure you of that.

Bar Logo AAA 5 - 4 Central

Controversy in this one as Paul Routledge saw his score on the board saying 156 left, he hits 120 only for the marker to tell him he has bust as the marker somehow changed sides with the scoring this let Dave Madden in and he takes the win. For the match winners Jason Smith beats David Simpson in a classic as Jay finally put in a performance we all know he can and Chris Higgins beat Mick Antrobus, Lon Chambers (Central) just missed the bull for the maximum finish 170 but overcame the usually hot Mark Brawls. Game of the oldtimers as Charlie Cover beat Robbie Crennell to put the Logo outfit one game away from the win. Big Tony Kennish prolonged the match as he then beat Ross Walker helped by a 21 darter. The Central then made it 4-3 as Malcolm Callow marked his comeback with a fine pairs win partnered by long time friend Tony Kennish. The fairytale ending was over as Brawls and Madden defeat Antrobus and Crennell 2-1 to take the spoils.

No winner this week of the Paul Wheeler highest finish. We would like to thank Malcolm Kinrade from Kinrade Bros for sponsoring two new awards this year, the Most Valuable Player in the league season (most wins in the singles and pairs for the league games only) and the Ton up cup which is the same system the WMDL run.

Also thanks goes to Richie Howland from Howland plumbing and Heating as he extends his sponsorship of the fastest league into a third year. Keep your eyes open and ears to the ground as there will be an announcement soon of a great new memorial comp in memory of one of the true legends of manx darts and also a true character.
