Champs out in front

by isleofman.com 31st January 2015
The Premier League men’s and women’s champions both won on Saturday to cement their status as favourites to retain their titles.
In the men’s Premier League, Bacchas A maintained their dominance as they ran out 7-0 winners against Saracens A – courtesy of Jamie Brown (three), Tom Wilson (two), Johnny Callow and Tony Bentley-Roberts.
Valkyrs A and Vikings A kept up the pace on the league leaders as Valkyrs beat Bacchas B 3-1 with Gareth Morris (two) and birthday boy Greg Miller on target.
Mark Parsons replied for Bacchas.
Vikings sealed victory against Ramsey A by the same scoreline – Andy Harding (two) and Conor Byrne the scorers.
Thomas Tsitsos netted for Ramsey.
Champions Vikings A moved top in the women’s Premier League but were given a late scare before seeing off Valkyrs A 3-2 in the top of the table encounter.
Kirsty Cooper (two) and Breesha Foxton had the champs in control before a Karmina Kovanda double left them just one adrift.
Bacchas A closed the gap on second place as they claimed a 7-0 win against a Valkyrs B side which never recovered from starting the match with just nine players.
Freya Duchars (three), Helen Thomas (two), Sam Franklin and Sophie Hudson scored the goals.
Ramsey moved up to fourth spot at the expense of Castletown A as the northerners won 4-0 against their southern rivals, thanks to braces from Christina Kermeen and Sophie Stoutt.
