Douglas’ run of form in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One continued with a 36-29 defeat of Bowdon at Port-e-Chee.
The Manx side had secured a try bonus point by half-time and held on, despite a Bowdon second half fightback which earned the visitors two losing bonus points.
Douglas led 24-5 at the break with two tries from Nick Hughes, two from Daryn Thompson and two conversions from Luke Hyland.
In the second half, skipper Glyn Hooson-Owen added Douglas’ fifth and Will Cain their sixth with Hyland converting both.
In Division Two, a weakened Vagabonds lost at Trentham.
An away fixture against the bottom club had five points written all over it but injury and availability issues meant that Vagas travelled a little weaker than expected.
They paid the price going down 19-13.
Sam Liver notched Vagas’ only try with Aidan O’Shea kicking the conversion and two penalties to ensure his side finished within seven and earned a losing bonus point for their troubles.
Ramsey’s game against Knutsford in Division Three was postponed until March 14 due to Bowdon’s frozen pitch but there was good news for the northerners after second place side Wallasey were held to an 8-8 draw at Congleton.
A bonus point win in the rearranged game will give Ramsey a nine point lead at the top of the table.
