IOMLTA Winter leagues – apologies I gave you an incorrect date last week.
The final home match is on Saturday 14th March (not 21st) versus Ramsey TC start time 3pm.
A reminder to all the Saturday Mini Tennis players – the 12 and 1pm sessions will go ahead as usual but from 2pm – 4pm it is the first of a series of Auxesia Mini Red Match Play events. The weather forecast is cold for the weekend so put something warm on under your Auxesia sponsored shirts. There will be plenty of hot drinks available and a few spare umpires would be appreciated so that ALL umpires aren’t on court for 2 hours!
Quiz Night – this is confirmed as Friday 6 March and tickets will shortly be available from the Social Secretary Kirsten Hall e-mail – kirstenaltc@gmail.com. Price will include the usual fish/sausage and chips supper. There is a limit of 50 tickets so contact Kirsten early. This is a fundraiser and we are planning a bumper raffle. Anyone willing to donate a prize – wine, chocolates, vouchers etc please contact Jan Gaskill – e-mail jan.Gaskill@gmail.com.
The committee are looking for some volunteers to form a working party to tidy up the grounds after such a “wet mucky” winter. Dates not yet fixed but it would probably be a Saturday from 11am – 3pm but it would depend on the availability of those volunteering.
The club will again be hosting the IOMLTA Veteran Closed Championships and the club coach, Ian Watson and the committee are hoping to have increased numbers on last year’s entry. This event will be held from 9th – 16th May. So all players over 35 put the dates in your diary.
Finally – if you want to be in the Albany Wimbledon Ballot for tickets this year you must OPT IN on the LTA website – www.lta.org.uk and you must be a member of the club and have a British Tennis Membership number. In fact it would be of great assistance to the club if every member joined the BTM scheme. It is free and would help to increase the number of tickets made available to the club. The closing date for this is 14 February.
