Sports coaches invited to meeting to help shape new programme

by isleofman.com 28th January 2015

Sports coaches are invited to help shape the first all-Island coaching development programme.

A meeting will take place in the lecture theatre at Keyll Darree, next to Noble’s Hospital, on Monday 16 February at 6:30pm.

Trevor Christian, Isle of Man Sport’s first Sports Coaching Co-ordinator is inviting all coaches at any level to attend the gathering.

Trevor said: ‘I am hoping for a large turnout of people willing to help shape the Sports Coaching Development Programme.  Whether you are a level one coach embarking on your coaching journey or an experienced, high level coach, we want to hear from you.’

The programme is aligned to Manx Sport and Recreation’s 10-year Strategy for Sport and aims to boost the development of coaching from grass roots to elite level – paving the way for even more sporting success for the Island.

The programme will offer tailored support to coaches from a variety of sports, with advice from Trevor and visiting presenters, addressing their personal needs. It will include lectures and seminars that will be open to all coaches.

Trevor said: ‘It’s vital we have the input of our coaching fraternity to ensure the programme is relevant to their needs and the needs of those they are coaching.’

Anyone planning to attend the meeting should email Trevor on trevor.christian@gov.im or contact him on Tel: 688590.
