Ramsey Men's Dart League Report

by isleofman.com 23rd January 2015

Week twelve of the Ablec Electrical Ramsey Men's Darts League and the RAOB get closer and closer to their first points of the season.

Plough B 6 - 3 RAOB

The RAOB get closer again to their first win and this week they were even 2 - 0 up thanks to Brandan Quayle winning his first ever singles game against Daniel Callow and this was followed up by Martin Timoney defeating Tye Jones. Indeed they hadn't lost a leg until the third game when the ton machine Jamie Kelly helped by 8 ton scores and 16 darter this week beat Alan Phythian. Jamie Leech and Mac MacDonald both won to take the lead for the Plough but the Buffs weren't finished yet as Neil Crowe stepped up and beat John Verrall to level it all back up again. Unfortunately that was all they could handle and The Plough won all three pairs games to take the points.

The local derby was a friendly affair but it was generally a one-way match as the A-teamers took the first six games and it was the old timer Charlie Cover who won the AAA's first leg in game 5. The best performers were Alan Young , Barry Sharpe and Ian M Fields all with 4 tons but these established players were all outdone by young Anthony Collis who hit 4 tons including a 180 and 19/21 dart legs. For the AAA it was ex-island football star Chris Higgins who showed he's not to bad on a dart board either with 5 tons for the night but lost his singles. Barry Sharpe was the star man in the pairs hitting 6 tons and a 72 finish but still lost the pairs game.

Good match this, Geoff Howland and James Arneil got the Plough of to a flier but Jamie J Skillan was unlucky against James as he hit 4 tons including a 180 but lost 2-1. John Taylor proved he is worthy of his top 6 placing in the stats by beating PDC player Paul Palmer 2-1. Paul had some great victories last week at the PDC Q school so this was a slight shock but well played JT. Has to be classed as the best game of the season was Simon Griffin 2 - 1 Andrew Hudgeon as there were 10 tons in the game and all three legs were won with a ton plus finish ( 102, 114 & 119 ) great game, well done gents. Never to be out done and this could be the second best game of the year as Dave Faragher 1 - 2 Gazza Uren hit 11 tons and fags hits 107 finish to take only the second leg off Gazza this season. Steven Waters and Hudgie take the points for the plough with a 2-1 win against Fags and Scott Dalton. Simon and Jamie inflict another defeat for Geoff in the pairs, this week his partner was Jamie. Paul and Gazza end the night on high winning the final pairs game.

Mitre 3 - 6 Central

The Mitre must think this was two points dropped after they led the match 3 - 1 thanks to Roy Dunlop, Glenn Charnock and Stu Corlett. The Central got into their stride slowly and thanks to Lon Chambers , Mick Antrobus and David Simpson they levelled the tie up going into the pairs. Star man in the pairs was Roy with 4 tons including a 180 but he was on the losing side as the Central outfit won all three scrappy matches to take the win.

The Paul Wheeler highest finish this week goes to Hudgie with his 119. Still leading the way of the Bobby Arthur memorial cup for the highest finish of the year is Gazza Uren 144 followed by Paul 'Aggie' Arthur 130 and Jamie Kelly 126. Fastest leg this week goes to Jamie Kelly with his fine16 darter. Fastest of the year is in the hands of Robbie Nelson, Alan Young and Paul Arthur with a 14 darter. Overall stat leader is Paul Arthur with 20 wins out of 22 games, close behind is Jamie Kelly on 19 wins and then comes Geoff Howland and Gazza Uren on 17 wins.
