Cavendish beaten in San Luis sprint opener

by isleofman.com 20th January 2015
Mark Cavendish missed out in the sprint at the end of stage one of his first race of the year.
The 29-year-old is competing in the Tour de San Luis in Argentina.
He lost out to 20-year-old Colombian Fernando Gaviria, who surprised the experienced Manxman by starting his sprint early and managing to hold him off.
Cavendish was quick to praise his Etixx - Quick-Step team mates afterwards, saying they did a perfect job over the course of the stage, adding he was disappointed to not claim the victory for them.
