2014 KPMG eGaming Summit Report published

by isleofman.com 19th January 2015

KPMG has announced the release of the Isle of Man 2014 eGaming Summit Report, which documents the events and findings of its celebrated eGaming Summit and offers those who were unable to attend a privileged insight into today’s eGaming sector.

Sponsored by Continent 8 Technologies, the 52 page document summarises the individual presentations of a host of global industry experts ranging from EU and government representatives to key stakeholders and, specific to this year’s edition, three panel sessions conducted by the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL). The report is available for download in .pdf format, free of charge, from the KPMG website kpmg.im.

Hosted at the Villa Marina on 11th November, 2014, last year’s annual Summit was KPMG’s fifth locally and the ninth in a series which spans both Gibraltar and the Isle of Man. Over 200 delegates attended the day’s presentations, as well as an additional 50 invitees to an exclusive IMGL Masterclass held the previous evening at the Claremont. The KPMG eGaming Summit series is designed to provide a forum within which delegates can discuss the future of the domestic and global eGaming industry, its challenges and opportunities.

Highlights this year included a further two IMGL Masterclasses on the implications of operating in part-regulated and non-regulated online gaming markets as well as the US regulatory scheme and emerging market issues. Payments processors’ priorities and the point of consumption tax also featured on the agenda, complementing a programme which also included the potential marriage between cryptocurrencies and gaming, forthcoming VAT issues and, now a staple of the Summit, a local sector update from representatives of the Isle of Man Government Department of Economic Development and the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission.

Commenting on the report’s publication, KPMG’s Director responsible for eGaming Russell Kelly said: “It was clear throughout the Summit that the eGaming industry is poised for significant change over the coming 12 months. What was also abundantly clear, however, is that the industry and its regulators are making a concerted effort to ensure cross-industry collaboration, the sharing of best practices and to open new channels of communication between public and private bodies. The Isle of Man is leading the way in such endeavours and it was certainly encouraging to see that this exciting industry shows more promise than ever at this key stage in its maturation. We are very pleased to announce the publication of this year’s Summit report, and I invite anyone with an interest in the industry to download it and enjoy the insights it offers.”

The KPMG eGaming Summit report is now available for download at www.kpmg.im.
