No change at the top of Premier League

by isleofman.com 17th January 2015
It’s as you were at the top of the Canada Life Premier League.
Reigning champions St George’s bounced back from their second defeat of the season to see off Laxey 3-1 at Glencrutchery Road.
Goals from skipper Frank Jones (two) and the returning Sam Caine sealed maximum points for the leaders.
Fraser Vaughan netted for the battling Miners.
Third place Old Boys were too strong for St John’s – and most of the damage was done in the second half.
After a Darren Hudgeon goal separated the sides at the break, Old Boys turned on the style with Hudgeon adding another and being joined on the scoresheet by Gary Quirk, Chris Coxon and Robbie Ward.
John Haggerdon replied for St John’s.
St Mary’s made a blistering start at the Bowl – two up after 16 minutes – to prove too strong for Corinthians and continue their encouraging form under player-manager Steven Priestnal.
He scored two and brother Marc grabbed the other.
Ramsey were 3-2 winners at Union Mills who are finally showing signs they could avoid relegation.
Skipper Michael Fernandez and two 16 year-old debutants - Tom Bentham and Danny Allison - were on target for the northerners.
Talented youngster Jordan Crawley netted both for the Millers.
Rushen United put six past struggling Gymns at Croit Lowey.
A double from Furo Davies (one from the penalty spot), two from Steve Riding, one from Dale Corrin and an own goal caused the damage.
The in-form Daniel Kewley grabbed both for the Tromode outfit and both sides finished with 10 men.
An impressive first half from Ayre United means Michael remain in deep trouble at the foot of the table.
The Tangerines had the points all but sealed as they ran into a 3-0 interval lead.
An Elliot Cureton hat-trick and a Jonny Kelly goal meant Paul Corlett’s strike was a mere consolation.
