Douglas secured an important four points in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One as they beat third place Winnington Park 22-7 at Port-e-Chee.

Douglas led 14-7 at half-time with tries from Dan Creer and Will Cain, both converted by Luke Hyland, giving them an early start.

Luke Cannings crossed for a Park try which was converted by Chris Heptinstall.

In a dour second half, Hyland added a penalty to stretch the Douglas lead and in the dying seconds, Rob Todd crashed over to seal the game for Douglas.

The win moves Douglas up a place and they now sit ninth in the table.

Vagabonds’ purple patch continued in Division Two with a 40-28 win over Port Sunlight at Ballafletcher.

Sam Liver and Tom Gascoyne led the way for Vagas with two tries apiece with supporting scores from Josh Carine and the evergreen Leigh Kennaugh.

Aidan O’Shea converted five out of six as Vagas climbed a place in the table and now sit sixth.

Ramsey beat bottom side Helsby 27-0 to maintain their lead at the top of Division Three and their five tries gave them a much needed bonus point after losing heavily at Ellesmere Port last week.

Dan Bonwick, Scott Kneale, Matt Livesey, Dave Hinks and Jim Lantry all crossed for tries with Kneale adding a conversion.

Nearest rivals Wallasey also won but crucially they failed to pick up a bonus point and Ramsey’s lead extended to six points as a result.
