Albany Tennis Latest News

by isleofman.com 14th January 2015

Albany have entered two teams in the IOMLTA Winter Mixed leagues which commence at the end of the month. Our home matches will be played on Saturday afternoons starting at 3pm alternate weeks for each team. Team captains are Ian Watson (A) and Jackie Russell (B). The first fixtures are: A team - Tuesday 3rd February at Ramsey starting at 6.30pm and B team Saturday 31 January at home to Douglas C starting at 3pm. Our home matches will all be played on Saturday afternoons on courts 2 and 3. This leaves court 1 available for other members. All the mini Tennis coaching on Saturdays takes place indoors from 12 noon – 4pm. If anyone is keen to play league please contact Ian or Jackie and they will add you to their list of players.

In view of the many attempted break-ins at properties in and around the Ballaughton/Harcroft area the committee requests that all members are diligent in locking up when they leave the club property. This means inner/outer doors, the indoor court and gates.

The annual QUIZ NIGHT is provisionally booked for Friday 6 March with Phil and Anne Bannan and Linda and Norman Faragher, last year’s winners, who will no doubt make the questions very difficult. This date is yet to be confirmed. Supper will as usual be  fish/sausage and chips.

Members are reminded that 31 January is the last date to “Opt In” for this year’s Wimbledon ticket ballot. You must have a British Tennis Membership number and be a full member, including juniors over 9yrs old to be eligible.

Albany’s ballot will continue being held as a public event – not drawn on-line.

Having a British Tennis Membership benefits you with access to the Wimbledon Ballot, newsletter, special rates for tournament tickets and the club will receive an increase in number of Wimbledon tickets allocated, which is directly linked with the total BTMs registered to the club. Please, even if you don’t wish to be in the Wimbledon ballot this year, join BTM and benefit the club and other members. After all it’s FREE

Will all Mini Tennis members who have their Auxesia shirts please wear them each week so that we can take a group photo for the sponsor. Those who haven’t received a shirt yet these are for sale at a subsidised price of ?10 and obtainable from me.
