The IoM Handball League tightened up at the top of the table with Rhumsaa Raiders edging ahead of the title favourites, Derby Square Teramo(DST). Rhumsaa fielded a couple of key signings in ex-GB Junior David Shand and Gary Scott, both making a welcome return to the sport they both graced in the past. Not to be outdone, DST ‘s new signings Meron Shani and goalkeeper Christin Maschmann really strengthened the team with strong saves from Maschmann and class goals from left-hander, Shani.
Police Offbeaters showed they were quick learners, getting stronger as the day progressed. The young teams from Ramsey and St Ninians whilst lacking the physical strength of the others, showed their progress with strong results and will be tough to beat in the handicap table.
The next round of games will be 7th Feb 11am-1pm at the NSC. Anyone wishing to take up this fantastic sport can play on Tuesday's at Bemahague 6pm – 8pm and there will be two learner sessions at the NSC 11am-1pm Saturday 17th and 24th January.
