Leisure plans need more time

by isleofman.com 12th January 2015
The UK’s largest alcohol retailer has asked for more time to build a warehouse, offices, motel, and entertainment centre in Tromode.
EFB, the company behind Oddbins and Booze Buster, says it wants an extra two years to follow through with its plans for a complex at Ballafletcher.
The firm says it wants to build a wholesale office and warehouse on the site as well as a play barn, pub and bowling alley.
But it says it needs the extra time to find an operator for the facility and consider the recently-published Douglas masterplan.
EFB’s original planning application was submitted in 2011, refused in 2012 and eventually granted at appeal in January 2013.
But the permission came with a two-year time limit which the company is now asking to be extended.
In its application, it says the Douglas masterplan contains leisure elements which may be duplicated in its plans for Ballafletcher.
You can find out more about the proposals, and have your say on them, on the government’s website gov.im
