by isleofman.com 12th January 2015
Peel caused the biggest shock in the Warehouse Fitness Limited sponsored Floodlit Cup semi-finals after defeating holders and four-time winners Corinthians 2-1.
Kira Buchan struck twice for the westerners in the first half, Jade Burden pulled a goal back in the second half for the Whites but couldn’t muster an equaliser.
The westerners have never won this competition and were beaten finalists in 2004.
In the other semi, five-time winners Douglas Royal defeated Gymnasium 2-1 in extra time.
It was the Tromode side that took a first-half lead via a Gillian Christian header.
Angela Waite equalised for the Ballafletcher outfit before half-time, it was Donna Shimmin who scored the all important winner in extra time.
