PwC, in conjunction with co-sponsors Continent 8 and IQE Limited, sponsored the latest in a series of events which encourage off-Island entrepreneurs to pitch their business propositions to Isle of Man investors and local entrepreneurs. The event also gave an opportunity for local entrepreneurs and businesses to discuss the benefits and opportunities which the Island can offer.
The events, organised by Steve Hawkins and his colleague Charlotte Mason, attract companies based around Europe and offer six to eight entrepreneurs the opportunity to visit the Island, explore what it has to offer, present their businesses to potential investors and entrepreneurs and then network over supper. Previous events have already led to several off-Island companies relocating to the Isle of Man.
The event held on 10 December coincided with the start of the BioMed Conference which commenced the following day and the companies seeking investment all had a health industry background.
Introducing the event, Nick Halsall, PwC IoM Partner, said: ‘Tonight’s event had a specific focus on technology that can be applied in the BioMed sector and we are pleased to support those entrepreneurs that pitched this evening.
‘There is no doubt that there is going to be significant change in the healthcare sector in the years ahead, not only in the development of new drugs and technology but also in the way that healthcare will be delivered.
‘The Isle of Man has all the ingredients to help entrepreneurial businesses in terms of attitude, taxation, Government support as well as the quality of the professional services companies and PwC are delighted to support this particular sector of the local economy.
‘The quality and spread of experience and specialist knowledge in the Island – including existing entrepreneurs, potential investors, and C-suite executives adds huge value to the Island’s overall proposition.’
