IoM stakes claim for global bio med business

The Isle of Man has taken a step forward in raising its profile among global bio med companies.
A business conference for the sector held in Douglas last week attracted an array of international delegates, along with niche bio med firms already based here.
Nine companies gave presentations on their inventions, innovations and research, while keynote speakers outlined how the Island could be the ideal base for launching new products on the market.
Organisers also promoted the cluster of business services available - from secure data facilities to financial services.
Ease of access to government, quality of life and a low tax base were also highlighted.
Inward investment chief for bio med at the Department of Economic Development is Courtenay Heading.
He says the Island is well placed to offer an attractive mix of expertise:
