Standard Bank’s offshore compliance team has for the second year running received recognition at the annual Compliance Register Awards ceremony in London. In the 11th annual event, the team were delighted to be nominated for five categories and were additionally pleased to increase their clutch of awards from one win in 2013 to three this year and two runners up positions. The team won awards for outstanding service to compliance and regulation, namely,  “Best Financial Crime Team”; “Best Head of Financial Crime” (Michael Smith); and “Best Head of Compliance” (Sean Flanagan), beating competition from the UK and further afield.

Sean Flanagan who heads up the Standard Bank Offshore Compliance Team from Jersey said: ‘These awards further confirm the great advances made by the compliance team and the depth of strength that is exhibited at all levels in compliance throughout Standard Bank’s Offshore Group. Standard Bank continues to strive for excellence and to provide a world class client service and experience; this starts with a platform of excellence in compliance.’

The Compliance Register was founded in 1995. It promotes excellence in regulatory compliance and regulation both in the UK and overseas with members all across the UK and in most of the world’s leading financial centres including New York, Frankfurt, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Dubai. The awards themselves were established in 2004 and were designed to strengthen best practice in the financial services sector, reward excellence and help to reduce the likelihood of future financial crises.
