It's St George's v Old Boys

by isleofman.com 6th December 2014
It will be St George’s v Old Boys in the 2014 Railway Cup Final.
That’s after two contrasting two semi-finals on Saturday.
Holders St George’s had far too much for surprise semi-finalists Ramsey – scoring four in the first 20 minutes on their way to an 8-0 romp.
But the real drama came a few hundred yards away as Old Boys defeated Peel in a dramatic penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw.
John Ward’s side triumphed 4-3 on spot-kicks to spark jubilant scenes from the home faithful.
At Glencrutchery Road, the tie was all over within the first quarter.
Conor Doyle led the way for the league champions with a hat-trick and was joined on the scoresheet by Ciaran McNulty (two), the returning Sam Caine, Julian Ringham and an own goal.
At Blackberry Lane, Josh Kelly fired Peel in front before controversy arose early in the second half when team-mate Alex Holden was sent off for a second booking.
The home side took immediate advantage when skipper Martin King equalised from the resulting free-kick.
The drama continued as chances went begging on both sides and Robbie Ward missed a penalty for the hosts.
Ultimately, they could not make their numerical advantage during the remainder of normal or extra-time but Old Boys fought back from 2-0 down in the shoot-out to win 4-3 on spot-kicks.
Ironically, it was Nick Bass who scored the decisive penalty to clinch a final place against his former club St George’s, managed by his father, and a family affair at the Bowl on December 28.
