Southern Nomads within touching distance

by isleofman.com 6th December 2014
Southern Nomads have one hand on the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield.
That’s after they beat defending champions Vagabonds B 24-15 at Poulsom Park on Saturday to boost their hopes and end their opponents’ hopes of retaining the trophy.
Gerard Landels crossed for two of Nomads’ three tries with Ian Hargreaves bagging the third.
Dan Bridle converted all three and also kicked a penalty as the 2012 and 2013 champions moved closer to regaining the trophy.
Vagas’ reply came courtesy of five penalties from the reliable boot of Johnny Beckley.
At Mooragh Park, Ramsey B beat Western Vikings 39-14 to move into third.
Craig Long got a try in each half for Ramsey with other scores coming from Matty Meechan (two), Jim Lantry and Scott Kneale.
Youngster Kneale also kicked a penalty and a conversion with Ben Harding sharing the kicking duties and also kicking two conversions.
Vikings picked up tries from Luke Smith and Ryan Burke with Sam Peel converting both.
