Royal win big clash; Marown up to second

by isleofman.com 29th November 2014
Douglas Royal and Marown were the main winners in JCK Division Two on Saturday.
Royal saw off second placed Douglas Athletic 2-1 at Groves Road, courtesy of first half goals from Liam Buckley and Paul Whitley.
Danny O’Hare pulled one back for Athletic but Royal took the points.
That moved them level on points with their opponents while Marown – the side defeated by Athletic a week ago – moved up to second after a 4-2 success at Pulrose.
Two goals in each half did the damage with Stuart Morris (two), Ashley Heginbotham and Niall Quayle on target.
Barry English and Craig Cowin kept the home side in the hunt.
History was made as Governor’s Athletic secured their first ever point in Manx football.
An 88th minute equaliser from Mike Cherry, who also got their opener, secured a 2-2 draw at Douglas & District.
Castletown hit five past Braddan and Mike Kenny was the star with a four goal haul.
Paddy Cooper also netted for the southerners.
The home side’s consolation was scored by Ben O’Neill.
Malew have moved above Onchan in the table after beating them 6-3 at Ballasalla.
Andy Glover (two), Jordan Krypner (two), Ashley Egan and Ben Cromwell grabbed the goals.
Mark Rees, Ryan Gartland and Luke Price replied for Onchan.
