Ramsey win top of the table clash

by isleofman.com 29th November 2014
Douglas and Vagabonds both went down to convincing defeats on the road in the South Lancashire/Cheshire leagues on Saturday.

In Division One, Douglas lost away to a strong Northwich side as they failed to carry momentum from last week’s bonus point win.

Carl Markle-Ferns crossed for Douglas’ only try with Bryn Snellgrove kicking two penalties as they went down 36-11.

Vagabonds lost away at Dukinfield in Division Two after making seven forced changes to their side.

Tom Gascoyne and Bryan Kennaugh both grabbed tries for Vagas but it wasn't enough to muscle past a Dukinfield side who are notoriously difficult to beat on their home turf.

Ramsey kept up pressure at the top of Division Three when they beat second place Wallasey 20-17 at Mooragh Park in the top of the table clash.

Despite John Watling giving them an early lead, Ramsey trailed 7-5 at half-time.

However, in the second period, tries from Jake Severs, Dan Bonwick and Craig Long gave them the win and a bonus point.

In NC North 1/2 West, Vagabonds Ladies bounced back from last week’s disappointing draw by beating Leigh 32-0 at Ballafletcher.

Fran Hunt led the way with a hat-trick of tries.

There were also tries for Rachel Overman, Sophie Henry and Corrina Daly who also kicked one conversion.
