Time's running out to enter the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards

by isleofman.com 27th November 2014

With just under two weeks to go to the closing date of the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards, local professional women are urged to complete their entry forms to be considered in the most prestigious awards for the region’s businesswomen.

Now in its fourth year, the winners will be announced at a major awards ceremony which will take place on 27th March at the Midland Hotel, Manchester.

The awards feature 12 categories spanning enterprise and business sectors, with an award to the overall winner.

A new category this year recognises the increasing contribution women are making in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), which have traditionally been male-dominated industries. By raising the profile of talented women working within STEM, Forward Ladies hopes to encourage others to pursue careers in these sectors.

This will be the first awards since business woman Griselda Togobo took over as MD earlier this year.  She said: “The Women in Business Awards have always been the highlight of the Forward Ladies calendar, and this will be no different.  The awards continue to attract professional women of the highest calibre, and we hope that will continue.  It is part of our ethos to recognise the enormous contribution made by women to the economy, and to the mentoring and support that they give to each other.

“We work with women at all levels of their career, including those who are just starting out, those under 28, and those who work from home to fit in with their family and life commitments.”

Headline sponsor for the awards is HSBC. Amanda Murphy, HSBC Commercial Bank Head of Business Banking said: “HSBC has a great track record of supporting women in business, recognising the significant impact they have within our communities and their contribution to economic growth. We are pleased and proud to be headline sponsor for the Forward Ladies Women in Business Awards, an innovative organisation that makes a real difference.”

Melissa Burton, MD of Goody Good Stuff, Morecambe, became the outstanding business woman of the year in the Women in Business Awards for 2013, as well as winning the international category.
