The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company will sponsor a parade lap celebrating Norton motorcycles during the 2015 Classic TT.
The lap will bring together a stunning collection of Rotary Norton machines raced during the 1980s and 1990s. Where possible, the original riders will be paired with their machines for the celebration on 31st August.
The Steam Packet Company has been the headline sponsor of the Classic TT parade lap since the event started in 2013, including the recreation of the 1967 Senior TT and this year’s tribute to 26-times TT winner Joey Dunlop.
In 2015, the parade lap, Norton the Rotary Years sponsored by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, promises to be one of the highlights of the Classic TT, which is part of the Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling.
Legendary racers including Trevor Nation, Ian Simpson and Steve Cull could take part in the lap, while John McGuinness is expected to represent the late Steve Hislop, riding Hizzy’s 1992 ABUS-sponsored Norton.
Norton will be celebrated throughout the Classic TT, with an incredible array of bikes on display, including the machine Rem Fowler won on in 1907 at the first TT meeting and the largest collection of Rotary Nortons ever seen in the Isle of Man.
Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘We are proud to be sponsoring the event for the third year in a row, supporting what promises to be a unique celebration of Norton.
‘The parade lap will, once again, bring together a fantastic collection of machines and legendary racers to create what I’m sure will be a highlight of the 2015 Classic TT.
‘We have seen the Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling go from strength-to-strength and, with forward bookings for 2015 giving early indications that visitor numbers could be up again next year, that trend looks set to continue.’
