Company ownership numbers query raised by Lib Vann

by isleofman.com 24th November 2014
Treasury Minister Eddie Teare has revealed fewer than 5,000 companies out of a total of more than 28,000 are owned by Islands residents.

Liberal Vannin MHKs Kate Beecroft, Zac Hall and Peter Karran put a series of questions for written answer to the minister in Tynwald last week.

Mr Teare said a total of 28,249 companies were incorporated on the Island under three pieces of legislation – and in the last available tax year 4,752 of those were wholly owned by Isle of Man residents for income tax purposes.

Mr Teare said another 401 companies were partly-owned by Island residents.
