Douglas led 16-3 at one stage in their South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One game at Manchester on Saturday but lost out by the narrowest of margins.
A first half try from Shaun Wyllie, plus three penalties and a conversion from kicking maestro Bryn Snellgrove, gave Douglas a good start.
Manchester clawed their way back into it and at half-time Douglas led 16-10.
A poor second half performance allowed Manchester to claim the spoils 17-16 and the losing bonus point for Douglas will be little consolation for them.
Vagabonds put in a commanding performance at Ballafletcher in Division Two beating Ashton on Mersey 75-7.
Vagas had the try bonus point secured within 20 minutes and were 34-0 ahead by half-time.
They ran in a further seven tries in the second half.
Ross Pulman was the star for Vagas with four tries.
There were two for Tom Gascoyne and singles for Leigh Kennaugh, Sam Liver, Ryan Windell, Liam Kinley, Josh Carine and Kevin Birchall.
Ramsey blitzed Oxton Parkonians in Division Three.
Parkonians put in a valiant effort at the Mooragh Park but were unable to prevent the league leaders from cruising to a 57-20 victory.
An early try from Mark Oldfield got Ramsey moving but Parkonians hit back with tries from Eric Nixon and Karl Whelan.
A Dan Bonwick try, converted by Scott Kneale, gave Ramsey a slender 12-10 lead at the break.
The hosts opened up in the second half with tries from John F Watling (3), Kneale, Peter Richardson and Tynan Pritchard (two).
With Kneale and Andy Cleator also converting, the game quickly went beyond Parkonians’ reach.
Number eight Terry Williams did cross for two late tries to give Parkonians a try bonus point which they thoroughly deserved.
