New Telecoms operator in the Isle of Man

by isleofman.com 7th November 2014

The Isle of Man Communications Commission has granted a license amendment that will see Wi-Manx become the third Full Telecoms Operator in the Isle of Man. The new license will enable Wi-Manx to offer a full suite of internet, voice and networks services to the Isle of Man market.

The Douglas based company who recently celebrated ten years in business now has the freedom to expand their product portfolio, prompting further investment in their IPv6 multi-service network. The new license provides a platform on which Wi-Manx can launch a range of services that will lead to further choice and competition in the market.

MD of Wi-Manx, Joe Hughes said of the approval “This is great news for us as a business and great for the Isle of Man. A core focus of our business is now on the introduction of new and never before seen business solutions which will be rolled out in the New Year.”

Wi-Manx already owns and operates a pan European MPLS network, a state of the art data centre and supports several thousand residential and business customers through the Isle of Man, UK and Europe. Earlier this year, the provider was acquired by local company Elite Comms Group in a move that will place Wi-Manx in front of global leading brands such as Intercontinental Hotel Group, Yo Sushi and Jet 2.

The expanded portfolio of products coming in 2015 will include full voice services, SIP Trunking and a range of network services currently being developed for FTSE 100 Companies. Wi-Manx home users will go on to benefit from a wider range of services and even lower call costs using the Island’s most popular voice over IP solution.

Hughes continued:

“We have worked hard to get where we are today and this has been demonstrated in our licence extension, as well as our recent Awards for Excellence nomination for Customer Service of the Year. As the only wholly Manx owned Full Telecoms Operator, despite our successes elsewhere, the Isle of Man remains at the heart of our business.”
