Tomorrow (Friday 7th November) is the Annual Night at the Races and so far sponsorship and ticket sales have gone well.  I hope everyone has a great time and we raise a lot of money. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored a race, an owner, a trainer or jockey.

Just a reminder that entries for the Auxesia Junior Open close on Sunday 9 November at 6pm. This event is open to all juniors at Albany and at other island clubs. Events – are Mini Tennis -U8,U9, U10, U12 and U18 mixed singles plus U12 and U18 mixed doubles. Entry fee for minis  is ?3 and U12 & U18 singles ?5. Doubles is ?3 per player. Entries to Ian Watson by e-mail ianwatsonpts@manx.net or place entry forms in the white post box. Play starts on Saturday 15 November with some finals being played during the week if events are completed. Prizes will be presented on court as each final is completed.

Albany has been successful in bidding to stage the IOMLTA Veteran Championships in 2015. Dates not yet fixed.

Next week the club will host it’s annual lunch for sponsors, Life Members, Vice-Presidents and the press. Jan Gaskill and some lady members will be busy with their culinary skills and I’m sure that, as usual it will be a splendid meal.

On Saturday 22 November HE Lt Governor, Adam Wood will be officially opening the re-surfaced out door courts and it’s intended that he will serve the first ball. He is a keen player and a member at Albany. Afterwards there will be a champagne & canapes reception in the lounge for invited guests.

All junior coaching is fully underway from Saturdays – Thursdays. If any junior hasn’t had their slot confirmed please contact Ian Watson tel: 496293 or ianwatsonpts@manx.net. for details. Ian will also be holding adult beginner coaching – if you are interested please contact Ian. The newly re-surfaced courts are receiving approval especially as a short shower does not stop play.
