Minister tweets about 'soul searching' CoMin meeting

by isleofman.com 17th October 2014

Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson says some 'difficult truths' were faced at the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers yesterday.

His comment on the social media site twitter comes ahead of questions Chief Minister Allan Bell will face in Tynwald next week, on whether he has confidence in Chris Robertshaw, his Policy and Reform minister, what the policy priorities are for the next 12 months and what progress the government has made over the past year.

Mr Watterson tweeted 'Full day with CoMin today. Some difficult truths for all of us and much soul searching. We must continue to improve as a team.'

Mr Bell admitted the meeting had been an opportunity to clear the air as well as deal with the routine agenda.

Asked to comment on the tweet, Mr Bell said: 'Mr Watterson has an interesting relationship with social media. Yesterday was a heavy day. It's very important from time to time for ministers to reassess their own positions, and personal relationships that get a bit strained at time.

'It's only through working as a team that we will be able to deliver to the public the standards of service they are looking for.'
