Players letter to IOMFA and MIFA

by isleofman.com 16th October 2014
42 players have written a letter to the Isle of Man Football Association and the Manx International Football Alliance appealing to both organisations to work together.
It concerns a decision by the F.A. to refuse permission for MIFA to play a game against Kurdistan on Tuesday 30th December.
A Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties allows MIFA to arrange fixtures over the summer months but proposed matches at any other time of the year have to be sanctioned by the F.A..
The letter states that the Railway Cup Final is two days earlier than the Kurdistan game and the next round of league games are four days later - the players state that they see no physical or mental issues with some of them playing three matches in seven days.
The signatories on the letter are led by Island captain Sean Quaye and includes eight of the players who represented England at the recent UEFA Regions Cup in Slovakia.
They are Julian Ringham, Stephen Riding, Liam Cowin, Frank Jones, Conor Doyle, Jack McVey, Chris Bass Junior and Mark Wolfenden.
Those in the Isle of Man UEFA campaign who have not signed the letter include all the Peel players - Andrew Crennell, Daniel Bell, Marc Kelly, Lee Gale and Josh Kelly.
Others missing are Max Thomas, Sam Halliday, Johnny Myers, Karl Clark and Ciaran McNulty.
Lee Dixon, who works as a coach for both the Isle of Man and Ellan Vannin sides, has signed the letter.
