Champions go top in Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield

Vagabonds B beat their Ramsey counterparts 45-19 to go top in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield standings.

Jonny Beckley crossed twice for Vagas and there were also tries from Arno Cruywagen, Kim Tomlinson, Matt Rockwell and Craig Thompson.

Orry Watterson, Dave Hinks and John Ali all picked up tries for Ramsey with Ben Harding converting two.

Southern Nomads defeated Western Vikings 79-0 at King William's College to move into second place.

Adam Boyd, Richard Seed, Andy Lean and Tom Spencer all picked up two tries each for Nomads.

Tries also came from Steve McHugh, Gerard Landels, Harry Wint and Tom Duggan.

Dan Bridle kicked four conversions and a penalty, Boyd kicked three conversions and Seed one.

Across the road at Poulsom Park, Castletown recorded their first win of the season beating Emerging Nomads 38-24.

Will Stanton, John Goodall, James Jones, Matty Craine and Darren Davis all scored tries for Town and there was also a penalty try.

Will Welsh kicked four conversions.

Elsewhere, Vagabonds Ladies got their league campaign underway with a 30-20 away win at Chester Devas.

Fran Hunt grabbed a hat-trick for Vagas with other tries coming from Rachel Overman, Anne Marie Rivers and Corrina Daly.
