Communists rue SA court decision

by isleofman.com 7th October 2014
The South African Communist Party has taken a potshot at a Manx-based businessman after he pledged millions of pounds to help people hit by the country’s “exit tax”.
Mark Shuttleworth won his case against the South African Reserve Bank over 250 million Rand he’d had to pay out when he moved to the Isle of Man.
And after the South African Supreme Court of Appeal ruled in his favour and said his money should be refunded, he announced he was setting up a fund to help people fight similar legal actions.
But at a rally in South Africa at the weekend, Communist Party general-secretary Blade Nzimande accused him of sponsoring a campaign to topple the country’s economy.
He described Mr Shuttleworth’s fund as “an act of hostility”.
