The new season got underway on Tuesday with the champions showing they mean business as usual as they took a fine 6-3 win against the Raven boys who have moved to The Traff.
Traff 3 -6 Plough A
Last years players player of the year Geoff Howland certainly hit the ground running with 5 ton scores including 2 x 180's fine darts for week 1 but he was out done by another star player from last year Gazza Uren with 4 tons, a couple of 90+ scores and a fine marker for the Bobby Arthur memorial cup with a mighty 144 finish. Plough debutant Paul Palmer hit a great 16 darter.
For the Traff outfit Stu Christain hit 5 tons, Jay Radcliffe and Alan Kinrade both hitting 4 ton scores.
Plough B 3- 6 Bar Logo A
The much fancied Logo boys, thanks to Mike Jelski's hard work in the summer, took on and defeated a very good Plough B side who will add to their silverware again this year.
The cobwebs are all now well and truly blown away as the scoring wasn't what we would have expected from this fixture, 4 ton scores for Ian M Fields and Barry Sharpe and Paul 'Aggie' Arthur with 3. For the Plough Jamie Kelly hit 6 ton scores and Mac MacDonald 3. There is definitely more to come from these two sides especially when the logo get the likes of Andy Evans and Paul Kelly in the side.
Bar Logo 7 - 2 Central
Another man very busy this summer and a very happy man on Tuesday was your new secretary David Lee and his new signings all raised the eyebrows Jamie J Skillan with 3 tons and John Taylor 4 the pick. It was great to see some new teams and faces out on Tuesday and an old great was back into the fold Paul Allison lost out narrowly but is a dangerous man on his day and the longer the season goes on the more he will be winning. Top man for the Central who had a hand in both wins was newcomer Dave Simpson.
Mitre 9 - 0 RAOB
You cant ask for much more in week 1 than a 9 nil win but the Mitre turned on the style, Glenn Charnock top scoring with 7 tons including his first 180 of the year. Another new face to watch out for in the coming weeks is young Harley Christian with a couple of tons this week. The RAOB have lost their main man from last year and could struggle but the Isle of Man Darts Academy have their first break through as Brandan Quayle stepped up to the oche for the very first time and adapted very well by all accounts gaining his first leg.
