The ILS Group is celebrating a landmark occasion as its Portuguese office marks its 15th Anniversary.
ILS Portugal was established in 1999 when local lawyer Paulo Refega approached ILS and offered to represent the fiduciary services provider in Lisbon, having previously worked for one of its competitors.
Today Paulo continues to manage the business, but in Cascais, where the office moved to in 2009. He said: “Over the past 15 years ILS Portugal has worked with some wonderful people and developed a strong client base. I would like to thank those who have helped us achieve this landmark occasion. From what started as a small business has continued to grow and I look forward to many more successful years at the helm of ILS Portugal.”
To celebrate the special milestone Group Chief Executive Officer Chris Eaton, fellow Group shareholder and Managing Director of ILS’s London office Alan Cable and the Group’s Head of Legal and Compliance Martin Kelly will join Paulo and a collection of clients in Cascais.
Chris said: “I am delighted to celebrate 15 years of ILS Portugal and am immensely proud. I would like to thank all the people we have worked with along the way and look forward to celebrating the end of 15 happy and successful years and marking the beginning of the next period of growth and success for the company.”
Concentrating mainly on corporate structuring for Portuguese property ownership, holding companies and trading structures for doing business with Africa, Paulo covers the domestic market by travelling regularly to Porto and the Algarve. He also represents ILS on the council of the Association Internacionalle des Jeux Avocats (International Association of Young Lawyers), through which he has attended conferences in San Paulo, Breganz, Dublin, Lausanne, Buenos Aires, Paris, Brazil and Ireland.
