Former police officer reflects on Hong Kong protests.

A former Hong Kong police officer and MHK says he thinks protests in the city will remain peaceful and be dealt with calmly.

Edgar Quine believes the police force will handle the current wave of protests well.

Thousands have taken to the streets in protest after China said it would have to approve candidates for elections.

Mr Quine, who was last in Hong Kong four years ago, says it leaves the members of the police in a difficult position:Clip 1
