Macmillan Golf Competition doubles last year’s success

by isleofman.com 25th September 2014

The Macmillan Cancer Support Golf Competition celebrated another success this year after raising ?1,709.98; twice the amount of last year’s competition.

The event held at the spectacular Peel golf course recently (Friday 5th September) was supported by sixteen teams who took part in the competition under what was described as ‘beautiful playing conditions’.

The winning team of this year’s competition was led by Neil Richmond joined by fellow team members Alan Gault, AshIey Halsall and Paddy Delaney. Second place was awarded to a team fielded by RL360 and the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company came in a close third.

Sadly no one won any of the Hole-in-One competitions kindly sponsored by local company Abacus Trust Company Limited; however it certainly made the game a little more interesting.

Event Co-ordinator and Volunteer Fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support, Pat Cook, said: “It was a wonderful event that raised a magnificent sum of money for Macmillan Cancer Support, which will all be used to benefit the people of the Isle of Man.

“We had a lot of assistance from our main Sponsors, Abacus Trust Company Limited, as well as other corporates and individuals who either sponsored holes or donated raffle prizes. Guy Smith and the team at Peel Golf Club were really helpful, and made the occasion run very smoothly; I would like to thank them and everyone who took part for making it such a special event. I am looking forward to doing it all again next year!”
