The club has raffle tickets to sell to help raise funds for the 2015 Island Games tennis team – there are excellent prizes – IOM Steam Packet tickets, racquets etc. Please support this event when all league trophies will be presented.
Well the work is done on our three outdoor courts and don’t they look good and feel good. The committee tried them out on Monday and are impressed. Now comes the hard work of repaying the loans offered by three members and accepted by the committee on behalf of members. The support of ALL our members at future events will mean that we are all sharing in the cost because the work has been done for the benefit of ALL members. This means that all club sessions are now back and play should not be curtailed so much during the winter.
Don’t forget to enter the club championships – 11 – 18 October. This is a senior and junior event. There is no entry fee and entries close 6pm – Sunday 5 October. Entries to Ian Watson by e-mail ianwatsonpts@manx.net or posted in the mail box in the club room.
Last Saturday’s Mini Tennis sessions were even better supported with a total of 50 children attending spread over the 4 one hour sessions. The 12 and 1pm sessions are for beginners aged from 5yrs – although some 4yr olds are already learning tennis skills. Each child is allowed three “Taster Sessions” and then if they wish to continue they will be invited to become a member at a cost of ?60 until 31 March 2015. This will include the cost of the Saturday one hour sessions. As they progress they will be moved to later sessions and those on the 2pm and 3pm slots will also be encouraged to enter the club’s Mini Tennis competitions.
