Tax and Estate Planning Specialists, Equiom Solutions, recently held a Property Tax Seminar in Jersey on the topic of buying and owning property in the UK.

The seminar, held on Wednesday 10th September at the Pomme d’Or in St Helier, was attended by close to 100 delegates.

Hiren Mistry, Legal Counsel for Equiom (Jersey) Limited chaired the seminar which began with an overview of tax planning for UK property, presented by John Nugent, Managing Director of Equiom Solutions.  The line-up continued with four guest speakers from Savills plc; Steven Lang, Charlotte Strang, Anthony Griffiths and Simon Aldous, who provided updates on the UK commercial and residential markets and a review of the taxation burden on London residential property.

Following a refreshment break, the topics of tax status, ownership, estate planning and commercial property tax considerations were discussed by Helen Woods and Phillip Dearden, both Tax Directors at Equiom Solutions. The seminar was closed, following a question and answer session, by Hiren Mistry.

John Nugent commented: “This was our first tax seminar in Jersey and I am pleased to say it was a resounding success.  The feedback we have received from delegates has been incredibility positive, with particular emphasis on the quality and relevance of the content delivered.  I am looking forward to planning more events of this nature for the Jersey market”.
