Aston celebrate 35 years of service

by isleofman.com 24th September 2014

Leading trust and corporate services provider, Aston International, is celebrating 35 years continuous service within the fiduciary industry having first been incorporated as Aston Corporate Management Limited on the 28th of September 1979.

An independent, family-owned firm, Aston International has the second generation of Griffins at the helm, with brothers David and Robert taking control of the management of the business in 2001.  The brothers have both worked within the business for more than 20 years.

Aston International is proud to have been at the heart of the business and local communities throughout its 35 years.  During 2014, Aston International has continued to support local causes, events and sports in the following ways:

1.  Onchan School’s playground refurbishment project received a healthy boost of funds.  David Griffin, managing director, as an Onchan resident with three children at the School, became aware of the refurbishment that is currently underway.  Aston International’s board, having sponsored Beach Buddies during 2013, decided to continue its tradition of supporting local initiatives that make a difference and made a contribution to this project.  Jenni Cowin, of Onchan School Association thanked Aston International for its “overwhelming generosity”.

2.  Aston International are very pleased to be associated with the Isle of Man’s GuitarFest, and have made a contribution towards the costs of staging this prestigious international festival.

GuitarFest takes place over four evenings from the 2nd-5th October 2014.  It is organised by JonnoPromotions and supported by Isle of Man Arts Council and Island of Culture 2014.

Headlining musicians are the multi-talented, multiple folk award winner, Martin Simpson, performing at the Villa Marina Arcade on Friday 3rd.  Juan Martin, one of the world’s finest guitarists, presents his brand new Flamenco project “2 Guitarras Malaguenas” with Chaparro de Malaga at the Erin Arts Centre on Saturday 4th.  This will be the first time this new duo have performed together anywhere in the British Isles.

A number of members of Aston International’s staff will be attending GuitarFest events and all are looking forward to the musical extravaganza.

3.  Elizabeth “Lizzie” Holden, holder of a British National under-16 Girls’ Madison Championship silver medal, recently won a silver medal at the British Junior Road Race Championships.

Lizzie is receiving a bursary from Aston International to assist her in travelling to race meetings in other countries.  Many on the Island will know that Aston International managing director David Griffin is a keen sportsman and he is very pleased to be able to give something back to the Isle of Man sporting world by offering Lizzie the support of Aston International for the coming year.

4.  Finally, Aston International was one of the original supporters of “Manx Stars In Their Eyes”, which the company has supported every year since it started.  This will be held for the last time at the Villa Marina on Saturday 15th November and Aston International has again made a contribution towards the cost of staging this landmark event in the local community’s calendar.
