Cycling Challenge returns for its third year

by isleofman.com 22nd September 2014

The annual Isle of Man CC (Cycling Challenge) will be taking place for its third year next Saturday from 0830, starting and finishing from the TT Grandstand. The forecast looks dry and breezy for a great day out on the Mountain Course, and many cyclists will be riding to fundraise for charity.

The cyclists ride one, two or three laps of the 37.7 mile course either solo or as part of a relay team (one lap per rider). Solo riders therefore face a 37.7 mile ride, a 75.5 mile ride or, for those who relish a challenge, a 113.2 mile ride with 6396 ft of ascent. The first riders will set off at 30 second intervals at 0830 and the course will close at 1700. If you see an IOMCC rider please give them a thumbs up!

Registration is open until the event starts on Saturday morning on the Isle of Man CC website (www.IsleofManCC.com), where there is also a schedule of events, live Facebook feeds and a page dedicated to the cycling history of the Isle of Man. The site will also publish live timings throughout the Saturday.

If anyone is interested in volunteering to marshall at the event please could they call Laura Mearns on 07939 953 395. All marshalls receive an Isle of Man CC T-shirt as a thank you. Crepes, paninis, waffles and massage will be also available at the Grandstand too courtesy of La Creperie and Tom Black Massage Therapy.

The Isle of Man CC is designed and run by Greenrock Ltd who also organise the ultracycling event The RACE (Race across Europe, www.theraceacrosseurope.com), a San Francisco to Los Angeles bike ride along the Californian coast and epic high-altitude bicycle tours in the Himalayas.

The date – Saturday 27 September 2014
Venue – Douglas, Isle of Man
Cost of entry – ?35 (one lap), ?45 (two laps), ?55 (three laps).
